Creating Your Own Free
Rounded Corner Templates - Page 3
5. (Continued
From Page 2) Now place your mouse arrow just inside the
top left corner of the box you have drawn. Hold down your left
mouse button down and and drag down to just inside the bottom
right of the box. Let go of the mouse button and you should see
a white box inside your first box. I like to use several boxes
on one template, like a top box, side box, as well as the main
content box. This gives you room for advertisements as well as
the page. Remember, you have to draw all the box outside
backgrounds before you switch to your secondary color to create
the inside reliefs of the boxes. You will have to practice to
get the boxes to line up, and the insides to have equal borders.
Don't forget you have several layers of undo. If nothing else,
you have learned to make some cool navigation buttons and
banners.
6. Now that you are a master website
template builder, it is time to save your work. Under
"File" click "Save As". You will see you can
only save it as a Bitmap, so give it a name and save it somewhere
you can find it.
7. You will notice that as a Bitmap image,
it is a huge file. Way too huge to use as a template as it is. You
need to take it to your image or photo editing program and save it
as a .jpg (jpeg) file. If you do not have a photo editing program
to do this you can get IrfanView
for free. All you have to do is open your image editing program,
open and navigate to your template image, then just save it as a jpg. Compare
the file sizes, you should see the jpg file is about 1/10th of the
Bitmap file.
8. Now the fun begins. Open your web
building program or go to your HTML editor. Use whatever you use
to build a web page. This is why this is in the advanced section,
you need to be comfortable with using HTML code, tables and cells.
You do not need to be an expert, but I will be using some
terminology that will require you to have a bit of experience. I use Microsoft FrontPage for this next step.
